Say it clearly

I like to be clear and consistent with the dogs about my expectations for their mindsets (calm and tuned in) and also our obedience commands (follow through and holding).

In this video, we’ll see a very neat moment where during a recall Oakley gets a bit excited by the other dogs behind me and he almost buzzes right by me to join them rather than completing his recall command… this happens to all dogs at one time or another!

You’ll see me turn as I repeat the recall and have him come to me and sit in front before we continue on. This is the beauty of our ecollar communication, even when excited and distracted I was still able to communicate with Oakley and get him back on track! In the following clip, Oakley does a fantastic recall despite the distractions that are still competing for his attention. It’s so important that we help our dogs perform to the best of their ability rather than settling for ‘good enough’ because pretty soon ‘good enough’ becomes blowing off commands altogether!

Do it right, do it polite, consistently every time!
