Learning what he needs

Every dog learns in his own way and in his own time and so it’s very important to be able to read the dog and his learning needs and then tailor the training approach to best serve HIM. Anxious guys who become very reactive to other dogs on walks and to sights and sounds around his home have two key underlying issues to address (anxiety and reactivity), and it often means that the dog needs more time to process and more reps during his sessions to work though things.

Think of a time when you felt very anxious or worried and then try to learn a new skill or topic at the same time… not an easy task! Addressing his reactivity in all situations to adjust his mindset from anxious/intense to calm/confident means we will be putting in lots and lots of reps everywhere! I am beyond proud of this sweet guy and all of his hard work learning some great new skills.

Recalling past other dogs calmly, staying focused on me with more dogs and people on the other sides of the fences and completing his commands like a total rock star will take practice!
